Senior Grants Officer

DOWNLOAD JOB DESCRIPTION

Al-Mizan Charitable Trust is a Muslim grant-funder, which provides financial support to individuals and families in financial hardship, regardless of their faith or cultural background. Through an open and accountable application process, the Trust awards grants and interest-free loans of up to £500 to individuals who are seeking basic subsistence or the means to acquire the skills and opportunities which will help them break away from the debilitating cycle of poverty.

Our current beneficiaries include young people seeking vocational skills, specialist equipment and supplies for the elderly and the disabled and welfare support for victims of abuse and domestic violence. Whilst the Trust is currently funded by donors and well-wishers, we believe in sustainable social investment and actively seek capital and asset gifts in order to develop a permanent endowment. Moreover, the Trust pledges not to use any direct donation to maintain the overheads of the charity – all administrative costs are covered through trading and tax-relief.

As the Trust prepares for the official launch of the charity, we are looking to recruit a Senior Grants Officer to join our Management Committee. The role is responsible for managing the application, assessment and monitoring of all grant applications received by the Trust.

In particular, we are looking for applicants who can demonstrate expertise in at least two of the following areas:

- Welfare Benefits
- Counselling
- Social & Health Care
- Advocacy
- Quality Assurance Systems

We welcome applicants of different faith and cultural backgrounds, as well as those resident outside of London. The ability to speak one or more foreign languages will benefit your application.

To apply for this role, please send a CV, Covering Letter and Equal Opportunities Form by email to the Office Administrator, Aisha Khan, at admin@almizantrust.org.uk. The deadline for applications is Friday 28 October 2011, with interviews on Saturday/Sunday 12/13 November 2011.
