Al-Mizan Charitable Trust is a Muslim grant-funder which supports disadvantaged people and deprived communities across the UK, regardless of their faith or cultural background.

Michael came to the UK in 2004 with his wife as a refugee. He has suffered from depression since then, but was only formally diagnosed in 2010, because he had no proper access to healthcare. He enrolled in a part-time law course at the local university, which he was able to self-finance for the first year. However, his depression has got worse and he has been unable to work since then. Another charity had agreed to fund two of his modules and he needed financial assistance for the other two modules.

The Trust provided a grant of £400 towards Michael’s course fees.
