Ramadan Running

If you find fasting in the hot summer months pretty painless, why not make it more of a challenge this year?

We’ve compiled a list of short running events around London, and one fairly long walking one, which you can take part in and raise funds for our work with people living in poverty across the UK:

Olympic Park, 5km and 10km (Sunday 12 June 2016)

Bushy Park, 5km and 10km (Sunday 12 June 2016)

Eltham Park, 1 mile, 3.5km, and 5km (Sunday 12 June 2016)

Wembley Colour Run, 5km (Sunday 12 June 2016)

St Albans, 5km (Sunday 12 June 2016)

St Albans Walking Half Marathon (Sunday 12 June 2016)

Richmond Park, 5km and 10km (Sunday 18 June 2016)

Olympic Park, 1 mile, 5km, and 10km (Saturday 25 June 2016)

Regent’s Park (ISEH), 2.5km, 5km, and 10km (Sunday 26 June 2016)

We do not have reserved spaces at any of these events, so you will need to click on the relevant websites above and sign up yourself. After you have registered, please email us on  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  and we will send you details on how to set up your fundraising pages.

We will also send you an Al-Mizan t-shirt and medal to show off during and after the race.

If you live outside London and are interested in taking part in a running event, do email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and let us know where you are based in the UK and what sort of distance you are looking to run, and we will try our best to find an event near you (We do apologise for being so London-centric – we are looking to expand across the UK, so please get in touch if you are outside London and would like to get involved with our work).

We would advise that you ensure you feel fit and healthy and have an active lifestyle before signing up for any of these events. A few people took part in a 10K last year whilst fasting and they didn’t experience any problems during and after the run (other than counting down the hours to sunset after the run, so they could have that first sip of water).

All funds raised will go to our General Welfare Fund, which provides small grants to people living in poverty across the UK for education and training, employment and enterprise, household items, medical and mobility, and subsistence. To find out more about how we help people living in poverty across the UK, please see some of our case studies here.
